Ik kan me dit nog heel goed herinneren. Ik was destijds 12 jaar, en mijn vader en ik reden verschillende keren vanuit Den Haag naar Ter Heijde, om te gaan kijken. Bij eb kon je helemaal om het schip heenlopen, en ik weet nog goed hoeveel indruk het op me maakte hoe groot zo'n zeeschip van zo heel dichtbij was. Als je bij die boeg stond en je keek naar boven, man wat een hoogte! Het was ook best een flinke knaap, een kleine 10.000 brt en ca 150 meter lang. Deze documentaire heb ik nooit eerder gezien, heel interessant.

I was confused by the name IHC, so i searched, it has nothing to do with International Harvester, its Industriële HandelsCombinatie, a netherlands company.

Er zit nog een grappig einde aan de hevige berging, de koper van het voorschip, een zeer bekend iemand uit Schiedam ook bekend uit de wereld van scheepswrakken, had de resten van het voorschip weer doorverkocht en dat was handje contantje geregeld, de verkoop werd op een vrijdagavond gevierd met een borrelavond in Schiedam, de persoon werd door zijn vrouw opgehaald omdat hij zelf niet meer kon rijden, na thuiskomst belde hij naar de betreffende kroeg en vroeg of wij zijn wagen op slot wilden zetten omdat er nog "wat contant geld" in het dashbord kastje lag en de sleutel nog gewoon in de wagen zat..........dat deden wij natuurlijk heel graag en na een blik in het dashbordkastje te hebben geworpen de auto keurig afgesloten en de sleutel aan de kroegbaas gegeven..... Dit is een echt gebeurd verhaal.
